WWE 2008 Unforgiven Card: Predictions

unforgiven3.jpgVickie Guerrero promises an apology from The Undertaker:

Vickie will come to the ring with the family surrounding her and demand that Undertaker comes out. Undertaker will come out and by the time he reaches the ring, it will be just Vickie and Undertaker as the rest of the family scampers for cover. Vickie’s resolve will crack in about ten seconds and she’ll run from the ring for her life. This will not impress the McMahons.

Big Show will come out and stare down Undertaker.

Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase Junior vs. Cryme Tyme (WWE World Tag Team Titles):

Rhodes and DiBiase have already dropped the title once, to Batista and Cena. It’s a pretty obvious outcome when we consider how big management is on DiBiase. Expect Orton to be watching the match as he’s got a stable to build once he fully recovers.

Winner: Rhodes and Dibiase retain.

Michelle McCool vs. Maryse Oulett (WWE Diva Title):

I have to look at the pictures of Maryse in lingerie through filtered lenses to keep my brain from exploding. Maryse looking hot in lingerie is the only reason she’s getting pushed. A title builds credibility when a heel holds it and the babyface has to chase it- a real reason for Maryse to win, but we don’t credit WWE’s creative division for that much effort into building storylines for the Divas.

Winner: Maryse new Diva Champion

Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho (Unsanctioned Match):

This match is unsanctioned because Michaels doesn’t have medical clearance for his eye injury that he suffered at the hands of Y2J. This is truly a great feud and we can expect some amazing ring action. Since the other main events are slated for 20 minutes, this match could go for an hour. Who will win? With Michaels’ near-injury still requiring some rest after the main event and Y2J’s heel momentum, we’re thinking the match won’t end in Shawn Michael’s favor. Y2J won’t escape this match unscathed, either.

The feud will continue.

Winner: Chris Jericho with interference, but Michaels will get some measure of revenge.

Mark Henry vs. Chavo Guerrero vs. Fit Finlay vs. Matt Hardy vs. Mike Mizanin (ECW Heavyweight Title – Scramble Match):

Henry will look dominant throughout the match but Hardy will pick up the win.

Winner: Jeff Hardy new world champion.

C.M. Punk vs. Dave Batista vs. John B. Layfield vs. Kane vs. Rey Mysterio (Raw World Heavyweight Title – Scramble Match):

WWE management has figured out that the worse they treat CM Punk, the more over he gets with the audience as an ‘underdog’ champion and we don’t think the experiment is over, yet. CM Punk seizes an opportunity for a last second victory.

Winner: CM Punk retains.

Triple H vs. Brian Kendrick vs. Jeff Hardy vs. M.V.P. vs. Shelton Benjamin (WWE Championship – Scramble Match):

The way Triple H has been scripted at Smackdown makes us think that this match will be a squash for The Hunter. Expect something ridiculous that will make Triple H look good and everyone else look bad, like Triple H piling his opponents in the middle of the ring and sitting on them as the clock runs down…although, if Kane did it in his match, it would be cool.

Winner: Triple H retains.

WWE 2008 Unforgiven: Diva Title Match

divachamp.jpegMichelle McCool beat Natalya at her own game- wrestling and submission- to become the first WWE Diva Champion at the Great American Bash. The Diva Champion has reigned with integrity and class and at Unforgiven, will defend her championship for the first time at a PPV.

The challenger to Michelle McCool’s reign is WWE Diva Maryse, a shameless French beauty who has pursued Michelle, believing herself to be a better Diva Champion, because ‘the gold would look better around her waist.’ Marys has talked the talk and at Unforgiven, will have the opportunity to show if she can also walk her talk, when she will go against Michelle for the Diva title.

Find out which of the Sexiest Women on Television will reign when the bell tolls by watching Unforgiven, live Sunday, Sept. 7, only on pay-per-view.

WWE 2008 Unforgiven: Shawn Michaels and Jericho still on!

shawn-michaels.jpgFrom wwe.com,

After a comprehensive examination, it has been determined that Shawn Michaels suffered a small tear on his left triceps during a confrontation with Chris Jericho, but is medically cleared to wrestle.

“Before the MRI,” Michaels told WWE.com, “my doctor was 99.9 percent sure that I had a full tear of my triceps and that I would experience bruising, swelling and a loss of my range of motion. Through the power of prayer, none of those things happened and I am ready for Unforgiven.”

WWE 2008 Unforgiven Update: Shawn Michaels Injured at signing

shawnmichaels.jpegShawn Michaels has torn his left tricep during the closing segment of this week’s RAW. Shawn and Jericho were facing each other down during the contract signing for a bout with Chris Jericho at Unforgiven, when Lance Cade tried to attack Shawn Michaels from behind. Shawn took out Lance Cade and Jericho jumped out of the ring. Shawn overreached to grab Jericho as he left the ring and landed badly on his elbow.

The two have a contender for the best feud of 2008 and fans were excited by their upcoming Unsanctioned Match.

WWE.com reports that Michaels has vowed to WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and Talent Relations Executive John Laurinaitis that he will appear this Sunday at the PPV no matter what damage doctors discover upon examination.

Michaels has wrestled injured before for main events, for example with Triple H at Taboo Tuesday in 2004. WWE.com expects to have more information on Michaels’ injury following a more comprehensive medical examination today. Michaels could be out of action for the next four to six months if surgery is required for the tricep.

WWE 2008 Unforgiven: Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho in an Unsanctioned Match

shawnjericho.jpgDespite Shawn Michaels’ doctor’s suggestion to hang up his boots due to injury, HBK extended a challenge to Chris Jericho for an Unsanctioned Match at Unforgiven, where neither Jericho nor WWE would be liable if Michaels were to sustain further injury.

For months now, Chris Jericho has plagued the life and career of HBK with his new sense of self-righteousness and his unrelenting verbal and physical attacks on The Showstopper. Ever since he revealed his true intentions after interjecting himself into Michaels’ business in April, Jericho has berated HBK and all the WWE Universe for supporting an “immoral” man. In the end, Jericho had even gone so far as to force Michaels’ hand in having to contemplate retirement after repeatedly attacking and re-injuring The Showstopper’s eye and possibly detaching his retina.

At SummerSlam, however, the first-ever Undisputed Champion may have been counterproductive in his actions when he struck Michaels’ wife, Rebecca, in the center of the WWE ring. Whether he meant to hit her or not, Jericho showed no remorse the next night on Raw, once again taking the moment to preach against HBK and all of the WWE Universe.

One week later on Raw, as Jericho accepted HBK’s challenge, Michaels promised that he won’t forgive Jericho for what he has done to his family and he won’t be looking to “steal the show.” He will be looking for one thing and one thing only – “an eye for an eye.”

WWE 2008 Unforgiven: ECW Championship Scramble

unforgivenscramble.jpgTheodore Long has followed his fellow GMs and announced an ECW Championship Scramble Match. The unique match will pit ECW Champion Mark Henry, Matt Hardy, The Miz, Chavo Guerrero and Finlay against each other at Unforgiven.

Matt Hardy has been described as a veritable force in this match where the only way to win is to refuse defeat. The Miz has shown that he is ready to do whatever it takes to come out on top – including overcoming the incomparable aerial assault of Evan Bourne. Chavo Guerrero is sure to bring everything he has to Unforgiven, including his supreme family legacy. Finlay also qualified for the Scramble Match by settling a personal score with Mike Knox.

Even with his amazing strength, ruthless viciousness, and the effective extra push provided by Atlas, such overwhelming stipulations stack the odds heavy against the World’s Strongest Champion. Will Mark Henry be able to maintain his dominance and survive the onslaught of such dangerous challengers, all of who seem to be custom-made for the mayhem that will undoubtedly accompany the ECW Championship Scramble Match?

What we know is that ECW fans are guarenteed 20 minutes at Unforgiven, unlike what happened at Summerslam.

WWE 2008 Unforgiven: World Tag Team Championship Match

unforgiven4.jpgThough Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase are the current World Tag Team Champions, their actual titles are in the hands of Cryme Tyme, who stole the titles from the champions. At Unforgiven, Cryme Tyme will have a chance to make the championship gold around their waists official as they face off against Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase for the World Tag Team Championship.

During a recent Handicap Match between John Cena and Rhodes & DiBiase, Cryme Tyme liberated the World Tag Team titles from the champions. Shad & JTG later explained their actions, saying that since they hadn’t been given a World Tag Team Title Match, they decided to “borrow” the titles. Giving the champions a chance to win back their physical titles, and themselves a chance to become World Tag Team Champions, Cryme Tyme challenged Rhodes & DiBiase to a match at Unforgiven. Planning on teaching Shad & JTG a lesson, the champions quickly accepted.

Though still in their early 20s, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase have made their mark on Raw, becoming three-time and two-time World Tag Team Champions, respectively. The champions have faced Cryme Tyme as part of multiple six-man tag matches, but never defended their titles against Shad & JTG.

Both of these tag teams are made up of young, powerful Superstars, with proven track records of success, and both are competing with the hopes of becoming the rightful holders of the World Tag Team Championship. When Cryme Tyme and Rhodes & DiBiase face off at Unforgiven, the WWE Universe will certainly be in for a “priceless” competition, but who will walk away with the gold?

Find out who will be the World Heavyweight Champion by watching Unforgiven, live Sunday, Sept. 7, only on pay-per-view.

WWE 2008 Unforgiven: World Heavyweight Championship Scramble

world heavyweight championshipRaw General Manager Mike Adamle announced what he dubbed a “Championship Scramble” Match for Unforgiven. In what promises to be a thrilling World Heavyweight Title bout, reigning champion CM Punk and four former World Champions – Kane, JBL, Batista and John Cena – will battle in the ring at the same time for 20 minutes. Unfortunately, John Cena sustained an injury and will be unable to compete in the match. Adamle has announced Mysterio as the replacement for John Cena.

One ring, five men, 20 minutes. It’s all sure to add up to one of the most unpredictable matches in WWE history.

Once the clock starts, it’s every man for himself. If any of the Superstars scores a pinfall or submission on any of their competitors, they become the current champion.

While current champion Punk fended off title challenges by Batista and more recently showed his resilience against JBL, none of those trials can compare to the carnage the fighting champion is certain to face when he sets foot in the ring at Unforgiven.

With so many heated rivalries ricocheting throughout the Quicken Loans Arena, who will get caught in the crossfire? How will alliances form and falter? And just who among the five will emerge victorious when the final bell sounds?

WWE 2008 Unforgiven: WWE Championship Scramble

unforgiven3.jpgFor WWE Champion Triple H, United States Champion Shelton Benjamin, Jeff Hardy, Montel Vontavious Porter and The Brian Kendrick, every second will count at Unforgiven. The five Superstars will make history by participating in the first-ever WWE Championship Scramble Match, where for 20 minutes, it’s anyone’s game.

On SmackDown, General Manager Vickie Guerrero, taking note of Raw GM Mike Adamle’s decree for the World Heavyweight Championship, announced a series of qualifying matches to determine the four Superstars who would join WWE Champion Triple H in the ring for the unprecedented title contest at Unforgiven. The Brian Kendrick was the first to win his chance after a grueling 10-Man Battle Royal in which he – with some assistance from his right-hand man, Ezekiel Jackson – dominated over both WWE veterans and newcomers.

Next, MVP stole a victory over Festus, earning him a spot in the Scramble. In the third qualifying match, United States Champion Shelton Benjamin beat Finlay, taking SmackDown’s Gold Standard one step closer to becoming a dual-title holder. For the last qualifier, WWE Champion Triple H was on-hand at ringside to witness Jeff Hardy defeat the man The Game towered over following their match at SummerSlam – The Great Khali.

For The King of Kings, this means he may lose his gold to any opponent without warning. Once the clock starts, there is no stopping the carnage which is sure to ensue – all for the richest prize in the game.

Will Triple H be able to take control in the Championship Scramble and protect his spot at the top of WWE? Can MVP and Jeff Hardy put their personal rivalry aside long enough to focus on the WWE Championship? Or will United States Champion Shelton Benjamin live up to his moniker as the Gold Standard and walk out of Cleveland’s Quicken Loans Arena with two titles draped over his shoulders?

Find out who will reign supreme as WWE Champion at Unforgiven, live Sunday, Sept. 7, only on pay-per-view.

WWE 2008 Unforgiven: General Rules of the Scramble match

unforgivenscramble.jpgWWE is using ‘Scramble Match’ rules for no less than two of their matchups for Unforgiven. WWE is promising great action right down to the wire to decide the WWE Championship title and the World Heavyweight title. So, how exactly does a Scramble match work?

The match has a 20-minute time limit. Two randomly selected participants will start the match, with a new challenger entering the match every five minutes.

If a Superstar scores a pinfall or submission on any other Superstar in the match, he is declared the “interim” champion for match purposes (and is not officially recognized as champion in the title history). He holds that designation until another Superstar scores a subsequent pinfall or submission on any other Superstar.

The last Superstar to earn a pinfall or submission within the time limit will be officially declared the World Heavyweight Champion.
