Mat Hardy wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!

matthardy.jpegHappy Thanksgiving my friends!

I hope that every individual that is currently reading my blog is having a great Thanksgiving! Be aware of the things you have to be thankful for. It’s easy to forget the small but yet important things. I am ultra thankful for all the wonderful things I have in my life. I am healthy (relatively, ha), have an amazing circle of family and friends, a wonderful life, am at an amazing place in life, and more small yet important things than I can mention.

I just got out of my jacuzzi bathtub-which was surrounded with candles and had tunes jamming. It was a slice of perfection. I love those moments because I rarely get them nowadays. I’ll be honest, when I go to work, the schedule is crazy. It’s so hectic, it’s so busy and stressful, most people couldn’t handle it. But I love it, because I love living my dream-it makes you a better person with more character, drive, and layers. You only live once-get everything you can out of life.

Before my relaxing jacuzzi session, I watched “Bigger, Stronger, Faster” with some friends. I highly recommend it. It’s a great documentary that sets the record straight on several issues that are very biased in society in this day and age. I had such a nice night, I HAD to put some of my thoughts down into a blog. And most importantly, I don’t have to set an alarm clock to get up. As Carlito would say.. that’s cool.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with all you family, friends, and relatives. Eat up. Catch me on Smackdown this Friday being a workhorse as usual. I’m very thankful of all your support you’ve given me throughout the years. Have a great turkey day today and eat up. Be well, and until then..

Quote of the day – “Don’t waste your time on me, you’re already the voice inside my head” – Blink 182, I Miss You

Vince furious about Hogan’s Celebrity Wrestling Show.

vince.jpegVince McMahon is apparently furious at Hogan’s Celebrity Wrestling Show. On a recent plaine flight, Vince has gone so far to say that anyone who is associated with the show will never work for WWE again!

The Wreslting Observer is reporting that Jimmy Mouth has become an unfortunate casualty of the backlash, in spite of the fact that he asked WWE management if it would be okay before agreeing to appear on HCW. Hart has been pulled from the Road to Wrestlemania events and now WWE claims they will never use him again.

Vince is apparently furious that insider secrets have been revealed to the public. We get it. You can say, ‘sleight of hand’ when describing a magic trick, but that doesn’t mean a magician has to reveal all his tricks to the audience. It’s the difference between teasing and acting trashy, according to Vince.

Or, maybe it’s the third-generation carny coming out.

Or, there have been some comments that Vince is only mad because he never did it first.

Or, Vince isn’t happy at the thought of going to war with Eric Bischoff again, if Eric is truly serious about starting a new wrestling company.

Jake comments on this week’s RAW

jakesnake.jpegJake Roberts posts on RAW this week at MySpace. It’s great that he’s back giving his perspective an a regular basis.

Apologize for being a day late. But here we go.

Show me the money! Shane arrives in a Mazeratti and tosses keys to Cryme Tyme to park. Hmmm…..ouch. Where’s Al Sharpton? Hell he could have parked it. Did anyone not think Cena would win? Jericho and Batista with rematch clauses and as Shane’s announcing, little big sister comes out and puts Orton into the mix for triple threat tonight to see who meets in the ppv. Again, I say there is a power struggle being developed. I called that one last week. Who do you think will turn heel? I say Steph and they will have a ratings war to see who has total control of company. Of course Shane will have Smackdown and will Adamle return? Slap by Stephanie, pretty nice, but not near what Shane delivered. Asking her which wrestler she’ll sleep with next. And possibly marry. Ho Ho Ho.

Shawn and Rey vs Miz and John Morrison
Again,3 minutes of entrance and these more than capable upper echelon talent only get 5-1/2 minutes for match. Ever thought of starting a match in progress? Or at least having all in ring, waiting? But then again, that wouldn’t allow announcers to push ppv product or anything else.

It’s a damned good match, just needed more time and not wasted on JBL’s limo ride which, btw, the heels registered him arriving, but not the baby faces. Strange, don’t you think? Shawn giving JM spot to stop him and capitalize on Shawn’s injury and Shawn going to rope in heels corner creating the fear of Miz getting to him. Just as Miz is about to, Shawn shoots his finish at JM and JM dives out of the way. Nice touch. You might ask Shawn never misses his finish, except, in this case folks, he has the eye injury. I bet you missed that. But Shawn continues to fire up on Miz, but JM gets the upper hand. This was damned good work. The baiting, the teasing, and the final stop was wonderful. Then they go to commercial break, and hurt Rey on outside with one of those ridiculous bumps that he can do, which again, builds odds against baby faces. Shawn trying to tag but Rey not there, which makes one wonder is there a turn coming? Shawn or Rey? Want to add excellent job of selling by Shawn. Have never seen anyone crawl for a tag on the ropes like he did. Excellent finish then the beat down comes JM looked awesome, violent and solid. Then the curve, as JBL who had been watching and remember he wrestled Shawn at ppv comes to ring. They hold Shawn up, waiting for JBL to do the damage and then we get the high and tight curve. JBL deliberately kicks JM instead. Everyone surprised but then they go to JBL interview and he explains that he has offered a great business deal to Shawn. HE was just protecting his future investment. Myself, would really like to see Shawn and JM as he has raised his value in my eyes and certainly has a good career in front of him if he continues his current path. How ironic another tag team partner left behind.

J.R. Talks Survivor Series..

wwe-jim-ross-jr.jpgThe PPV was solid with a fair amount of parity. Several bouts were good with nothing over the top, from my perspective.

The surprising return of Edge and the latest Jeff Hardy saga seemed to be the most discussed matters on the show.

Returning to Boston always reminds me of my conversations there with the late Killer Kowalski, who many of us thought about Sunday before the show.

Plus, in ’93 I broadcast the SS in the old Garden with the late Gorilla Monsoon who was one of the best men I have known in this biz. We did the event on WWE Radio, for those of you w/ good memories.

Boston also reminds me of the statement, “The Austin era has begun!” WM14 was where Stone Cold won his 1st WWE Title over HBK with the Mike Tyson element added.

Special night for the Undertaker, as Sunday commemorated ‘Taker’s WWE debut in 1990. What a run this man has had. I have much respect for longevity in this business. That’s the true mark of a HOF career in my eyes. Headlining major events over the long haul is an amazing accomplishment.

Did anyone out perform HBK Sunday night? Michaels 1st Survivor Series was in ’88 and he’s still as good as anyone in the biz.

I hope Miz and/or Morrison can get close to HBK’s level some day, but it won’t be easy for any talent due to the fact that today’s athletes only learn the biz w/ one philosophy and not in a variety of territories.

The number of elimination tag bouts really under scores the overall lack of main event level depth doesn’t it? These are the opportunities young talents need to seize.

I had a blast working w/ all 3 announce teams. It’s always a little awkward with so many wanting to speak but it was fun for me and offered some entertaining moments.

Loved Natalya using the “Sharp Shooter,” made famous by her HOF uncle Bret Hart. No, that’s not a Montreal reference, at least it wasn’t.

Good to see referee Marty Elias back from injury.

It was obvious that many in Boston enjoyed seeing Randy Orton beat Batista. Orton is young and defiant like many fans. I’m curious to see how this matter materializes. Orton is an anti-hero and anti-heroes sell tickets in today’s world.

I enjoyed the Team Batista vs. Team Orton match a great deal. Several participants distinguished themselves.

Obvious to me that Kozlov had some big match jitters. However he seemed to discard them about midway thru the match to a noticeable degree.

Hard to believe that the WWE rolls out another PPV in 3 weeks in Buffalo. Mid December in Buffalo gives me cause to remember a NFL game I broadcast once there the Sunday following Thanksgiving when the Bills thumped the Falcons. Brisk day to say the least.

There is no neutral ground for most fans re: John Cena as John is either loved or disliked. Plain and simple. His AWA themed, new shirt is cool.

Nice to see John back, if for nothing else, he brings his work ethic back into the locker room and gives the fans a viable body to cheer or jeer.

Hopefully the economy won’t adversely affect the PPV buys too much, but realistically, I can’t see the economy giving any business any breaks.

Hear the term “Slammys” being casually talked about in Boston.

2008 WWE Survivor predictions

cenasurvivor.jpegWWE has put together a decent card and (not to ruin the surprise) a interesting swerve for Survivor. Now, just for fun, we’re throwing out our quick predictions as to who will emerge the ‘Survivors’ this year!

Undertaker vs. Big Show (Casket Match)

Big Show and Undertaker put on a great match at Cyber Sunday. I’m dying to see how Big Show is supposed to fit into a coffin, so I’m rooting for Untertaker to win. Big Show and Taker will probably move on to other feuds after tonight.

Winner: Undertaker

Jeff Hardy vs. WWE Champion Triple H vs. Vladimir Kozlov (Triple Threat Match)

WWE has hyped this match by posting on their site that Jeff Hardy was found unconsious. Jeff will be selling his injury tonight and we think the advantage will go to HHH. Koslov could become champion and have Hunter chase…

winner: HHH

Team Batista with Matt Hardy, C M Punk, Kofi Kingston and R. Truth vs. Team Orton with Mark Henry, William Regal, Cody Rhodes and Shelton Benjamin – Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match

Randy Orton is awesome right now and we don’t see a reason to kill his momentum. Expect backstabbing on his team.

Winners: Team Orton

Team HBK with Rey Mysterio, Khali, and Cryme Tyme vs. Team JBL with Miz, Morrison, Kane and MVP – Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match

Should be a great match…now which team has MVP? Sorry JBL, not this time…
Winners: Team HBK

Team Raw with Beth Phoenix, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Candice and Jillian vs. Team Smackdown with Michelle McCool, Natalya, Maryse, Victoria, and Maria – Divas Survivor Series Elimination Match

Will probably break down into a cluster and have both teams disqualified, to save time for the other events.

Winners: disqualification

World Heavyweight Champion Chris Jericho vs. John Cena

Anyone want to go against John Cena winning? This year’s Survivor PPV is all about Cena! Love him or hate him though, Cena versus Jericho is going to be a great match.

Winner: John Cena
