Chris Benoit & Family Found Dead in Atlanta Home

Chris BenoitWWE.com has reported that Chris Benoit, 40, was found dead, along with his wife Nancy and son Daniel, at their Atlanta home by Atlanta police. WrestlingObserver.com, PWTorch.com and PWInsider.com all confirm the story, as WWE has told its talent that this is indeed the case and tonight’s kayfabed “Mr. McMahon tribute show” has been changed to a legitimate Chris Benoit tribute. As reported yesterday, Benoit pulled himself from the ECW title match (that he was most likely going to win) on the Vengeance PPV to be home for “personal reasons.”

Here is the statement from WWE.com — which has taken all Mr. McMahon-related storyline articles down from at least the main WWE.com and RAW pages as of this posting:

World Wrestling Entertainment is deeply saddened to report that today Chris Benoit and his family were found dead in their home. There are no further details at this time, other than the Benoit family residence is currently being investigated by local authorities.

Tonight’s Raw on USA Network will serve as a tribute to Chris Benoit and his family. WWE extends its sincerest thoughts and prayers to the Benoit family’s relatives and loved ones in this time of tragedy.
